"I am so fortunate to be working with a great group of intelligent and talented people who care about their clients as well as their fellow team members."
SileoTech is a small, yet dynamic company on the cutting edge of technology. The employees are intelligent, talented, and dedicated to both their clients and fellow team members. I am honored to be included on this dynamic team at SileoTech.
I have been working as a freelance photographer, publication designer and teacher for the past 15 years. SileoTech offers me the opportunity to work for them developing training solutions, while still maintaining my professional relationships with my photography clients and continuing teaching at several photography schools.
I am passionate about writing, teaching, photography and music. I guess you could say I love communication in its many forms – conveying ideas in written, visual, and audible formats. I have found that when I do the things I love to do, it does not feel like work even though I get paid to do it.
Outside of work, I still take photographs for personal expression. I have been a volunteer photographer for the Special Olympics for almost 30 years, covering the Summer and Fall games, as well as various fundraising events throughout the year. I also write songs and play guitars. In recent years, I have been playing my 12-string acoustic guitar and performing in local venues on occasion.
I began photographing professionally when I was still in high school, shooting sports and news for the local daily newspaper in my hometown in upstate New York. I also began my writing career at that newspaper covering local sports. After earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and Design at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), I worked a succession of jobs managing photo studios and professional photo labs before being hired by Nikon Inc. as a technical advisor. I worked at Nikon for almost 12 years, testing new technologies and providing photographic and digital technical support to professional photographers, publications, the military, and government. I left there to work for a large aerospace company, first managing their IT Help Desk and then as a technical writer and editor. Over the past 15 years, I have gone back to my photographic roots, shooting for international aerospace and defense industry magazines, music industry magazines, hotels and restaurants, and doing CD and DVD cover photos for major entertainment industry clients. I design and edit course catalogs for a local state university several times a year. I have also been teaching Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign at photography schools and a state university, and wrote a book on digital photography workflow with Adobe Lightroom.
